True to form, Captain Jack Sparrow has narrowly avoided the law’s clenches … once again. Apparently, Austrailian authorities threw down the gauntlet with Johnny Depp and he responded in true Sparrow character — he escaped.
Trouble has brewed since the beginning of Disney’s fifth installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales with problems during the screenwriting, mishaps during filming, off-set injuries, and smuggled doggies — all of which have some connection to Johnny Depp.
What can he say? He’s a pirate!
Perhaps his blood runs restless for Caribbean adventure. Mayhem and skirting the law seem to follow, just as it did nearly three centuries ago when bad-boys plundered the Spanish Main. It’s the risk-taking and hunger for adventure that gets these guys into trouble. Mr. Depp is likely no different.
His work as an actor who plays a pirate has single-handedly created an icon. Years from now, children will read about Captain Jack Sparrow alongside the others: Blackbeard, Calico Jack Rackham, John Phillips, Bartholomew Roberts. It’s bound to happen … in fact, it already has. Search the internet for pirates and see what pops up. My guess is that you’ll find Mr. Depp’s image right there on the front page.
Perhaps we should consider this — perhaps Johnny Depp is really a pirate portraying an actor.
That explains everything!
